Seth ThompsonSeth Thompson has been appointed chief diversity officer (CDO) at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). Thompson brings over two decades of experience in higher education leadership, diversity programming, and student support services.
“The role of CDO is vital to our mission at ESF. Seth brings a wealth of experience, vision, and dedication to equity and inclusion,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney. “His leadership will lead a campus culture where every member of our community feels valued, heard, and empowered.”
Thompson most recently served as vice president of student affairs and senior diversity officer at Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) in Dryden, N.Y., where he was a member of the President’s Cabinet and Executive Council.
Thompson holds a master of science degree in education and a bachelor of science degree in history from SUNY Potsdam, and an associate of science degree from SUNY Canton.
Dr. Dennis A. MitchellDennis A. Mitchell has been appointed Dean of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and Senior Vice President of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
A renowned clinician, researcher, and administrator, Mitchell joined the Columbia faculty in 1991 and has since devoted much of his career to strengthening both the faculty and student experience and fostering an inclusive campus climate. He is a professor of Dental Medicine (Community Health and Periodontics) at CUIMC and recently served as Senior Advisor for Inclusion and Belonging.
Mitchell earned his DDS from the Howard University College of Dentistry and completed his general dentistry residency training at Harlem Hospital. He obtained his MPH degree in executive health services management at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health.
Anne D’Alleva has been named president of Binghamton University. D’Alleva is currently the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Connecticut.
D’Alleva has led UConn’s academic enterprise, including strategic planning, budgetary management, faculty development and curriculum innovation across the university’s 14 schools and colleges. She leads initiatives that support student success, faculty excellence and institutional impact.
D’Alleva is the first woman to serve as provost in UConn’s history and previously served as dean of the School of Fine Arts since 2015 and first joined the UConn faculty as a joint appointment to Art History and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies in 1999. D’Alleva holds a bachelor’s degree in art histo- ry from Harvard University, and her master’s and Ph.D. in art history from Columbia University with a graduate certificate in feminist theory.
Tyrone M. JimmisonTyrone M. Jimmison has been named senior associate vice president for advancement at Meharry Medical College has been named senior associate vice president for advancement at Meharry Medical College.
Jimmison has a background in advancement leadership and held senior roles at the University of Houston, the University of Rochester, University of Washington Medicine, the University of Texas, and Texas Christian University. His work in fundraising, strategic planning, and donor engagement has consistently driven growth and strengthened institutional missions in complex academic medical environments.
In his most recent role as chief development officer at the University of Houston, Jimmison led fundraising strategy for nine schools and units, directly managing a team of major gift officers and aligning development priorities with academic leadership. His work has resulted in major institutional successes at the University of Roch- ester, including a $12 million individual gift and contributions toward a $2.6 billion Accelerate Campaign at the Uni- versity of Washington Medicine.
Jimmison holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Mount Union and a master’s degree in education from Texas Christian University.
Tina HennesseyTina Hennessey has been named vice president for university advancement and president and CEO of the BGSU Foundation at Bowling Green State University.
Hennessey held multiple leadership roles at Penn State, where she most recently served as Penn State’s senior assistant vice president for principal gifts. In that role, she led the university’s donor strategies and closed or supported a record of more than $275 million in principal-level commitments in less than two years.
Hennessey also held roles as assistant vice president for development, executive director for development, senior director of development for the College of Liberal Arts, gift planning officer, and director of major gifts for the College of Engineering.
A first-generation graduate of Penn State, Hennessey holds an MBA with distinction from Arcadia University. Before her work in higher education, she spent more than a decade as a journalist and launched a media and public relations company.
Dr. Kimberly HarveyKimberly Harvey has been named Alfred University’s new vice president for Student Experience. Harvey will begin her duties Jan. 5, 2026.
Harvey comes to Alfred from Nazareth University, where she spent more than five years leading efforts to strengthen the student experience through cross-campus collaboration focused on student well-being and belonging. Harvey began her tenure at Nazareth as Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement (2019-21) before serving three years as Associate Vice President for Student & Campus Life and Dean of Students. In March 2024 she was promoted to Associate Provost for Student Experience and Dean of Students.
Harvey has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Fredonia, a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Canisius University, and a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership from the University of Rochester.
Dr. Junius J. GonzalesJunius J. Gonzales has been named vice chancellor of Academic Affairs for the California State University system. Gonzales’ career spans nearly 35 years, the majority of which have been in academia. Most recently, he has been provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Montclair State University (MSU) in New Jersey, a Hispanic Serving Institution recognized for social mobility. He has also served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at New York Institute of Technology; senior vice president for Academic Affairs for the University of North Carolina (UNC) system, where he also served as interim president; and provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Earlier in his academic career, Gonzales was the founding dean of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences and executive director of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida (USF). Widely respected for his extensive and impactful research and scholarship, he has held research and teaching positions at UNC, UTEP, USF, George Washington University and Georgetown University. A first-generation college student, Gonzales earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and his MBA from Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He completed his medical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health.
Dr. Melody Goodman Melody Goodman, a leading biostatistician and research methodologist, has been named dean of the NYU School of Global Public Health. Goodman has been a member of the School of Global Public Health faculty since 2017 and has served as its interim dean since March 2024. Goodman’s research focuses on improving public health using approaches to engage partners outside of academia and move beyond defining problems to develop solutions. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles, with contributions spanning the areas of prevention, treatment, intervention, and policy, and authored two books on biostatistics and research methods.
She is a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, a member of the American Public Health Association, a fellow of the American Statistical Association, and is the recipient of many awards and honors. Prior to becoming the interim dean at the NYU School of Global Public Health, Goodman served in numerous academic leadership roles, including senior executive vice dean, vice dean for research, associate dean for research, and interim chair of the Department of Biostatistics. She joined NYU from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where she was an assistant professor in the Division of Public Health Sciences in the Department of Surgery, and was previously an assistant professor of preventive medicine at Stony Brook University’s School of Medicine.
Goodman earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Stony Brook University, where she was named a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her master’s degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and her PhD from Harvard University.
Dr. Emmanuel LalandeEmmanuel Lalande has been named Senior Vice President of Enrollment Strategy and Student Success at Columbia College Chicago. Lalande has over two decades of experience in enrollment and student development. He is joining Columbia from Voorhees University.
Lalande earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in educational leadership at Delaware State University before going on to complete an EdD in organizational leadership at Nova Southeastern University.
Michael StedelinMichael Stedelin has been named assistant vice president for research strategic planning and solution development at Penn State University. In this role, Stedelin will provide senior leadership in integrating mission planning, systems and solutions within the research domain so that organizational capabilities are prioritized, adopted and scaled effectively to meet the University’s research goals.
Stedelin holds a bachelor’s degree in computer management information systems and an MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
